Live Scan Printing

What is Live Scan fingerprinting?

Live Scan is inkless electronic fingerprinting. The fingerprints are electronically transmitted to the Illinois State Police for completion of a criminal record check. The LiveScan technology replaces the process of recording an individual's fingerprint patterns through a rolling process using ink. Digitizing the fingerprint minutiae enables the electronic transfer of the fingerprint image data in combination with personal descriptors in a matter of seconds. Additionally, ISP will coordinate the forwarding of prints to the FBI if required.

A trained technician will scan your fingerprints using L Scan Guardian. The electronic fingerprinting takes five to ten minutes and your prints are immediately available for electronic transmission for background processing.

Fingerprinting for Work

A new study says even more Americans are expected to
look for a new job next year. But some new technology is helping
some businesses pick out employees who they say don't belong.

ROCKFORD (WIFR) --with Reporter: Lauren Kravets
Chad Owens started working at Gruno's Diamonds in Rockford about six months ago. But before he could get the job he had to get fingerprinted as part of a background check. "I mean you're trusted with millions of dollars worth of merchandise on a daily basis; you want to make sure you got the right people in place," explains Chad Owens, sales manager at Gruno's.
It's a technique that seems to be catching on. Rockford Detective Agency does the LiveScan fingerprinting as part of their background checks.
"When we take fingerprints the reports are immediately transmitted to the Illinois State Police and FBI," says Carol Roberts, chief operating officer with Rockford Detective Agency. Fingerprinting only takes about ten minutes, it's all electronic which means no ink and instant results. Roberts explains, "There's no waiting for a couple of days; it's instant." If a crime is instantly reported back, Rockford Detective Agency can detain the applicant if necessary, like if he or she has a warrant.
Gruno's owner and president Brent Meade says it's a precaution his business and many others should take.
"The detective agency can run down and usually find out through past employers more information, more accurate information than an employer can find out on his own," says Meade. If you're an individual and want to get a background check to attach to your resume before you apply for a job, it costs $55 dollars through Rockford Detective Agency. Rockford Detective Agency says they also see a lot of schools and hospitals coming to them for fingerprinting background checks.
